Guide to Tuxes

Tuxes make every guy look cool.

Are you looking for fashionable tuxes for an important event? You've come to the right place. Take a look around and you'll find all the information that you need, whether you are looking to buy or rent tuxes.

Tuxes are rented out for a variety of special occassions. Some of the most popular events calling for a tux include prom tuxes, wedding tuxes, and party tuxes. Regardless of the occassion, you should check out a variety of tux styles to find your perfect match for a rental tux.

Do you attend a lot of high-class parties, weddings, dances, or formal occassions? Then purchasing your own tux may be the best option for you. No longer will you have to wear a rental tux that doesn't fit you just right.

You should visit a tuxedo tailor to find out your exact shape and size for ordering your own tux to buy. It is usually economical to purchase your own tux if you end up renting a tuxedo more than once a year.

It’s the rare man who is not irresistible in a tuxedo.  Something about a tux gives even the most casual guy an air of elegance and sophistication.  A tux is meant for formal occasions such as proms, weddings, the ballet, opera, theatre and other functions that call for formal dress.

A tuxedo is a suit that consists of a jacket, matching pants, a tie and a cummerbund or waistcoat.  For the most formal occasions a full dress tux has a jacket that is cropped in the front and has tails in the back.  You often see full dress tuxedos at state dinners and other ultra formal functions.  Another variation to the tux is the morning coat which is much like the tailcoat except the back is one piece instead of two tails.  Morning coats are often worn for evening weddings.

Tuxes used to come in just black or white but recently styles have changed and so have the colors.  Men now have a choice of colors and can even match their date’s dress.  Some men might fear that a pink, yellow or other color tux may be odd but no matter which color your date would like you to wear there’s no possible way to make a tux look effeminate!

You can even choose a tux that compliments your build.  Men who are tall and thin can wear any style but might want to bulk up by choosing a double breasted style.  If you are tall and muscular or husky, a single breasted tux with a shawl collar creates a slimming line; avoid pleated or frilled shirts and choose a vest instead of a cummerbund.

If you are slim and short, a single breasted tux with low-placed buttons will add height.  Short and broad men can choose a single breasted, shawl collar tux with one or two buttons for a streamlined look.

Your choice of shirt styles is nearly unlimited.  Any color shirt looks great when worn with a black tux.  They can have ruffles down the front or pleats and come with different types of collars.  If you absolutely can’t bear to wear a tie, you can choose a Mandarin style with stand-up collars on the shirt and the jacket.  You can choose a shirt with buttoned cuffs or the more sophisticated French cuffs that are held with cufflinks.

As for ties, the usual style is a bow tie but you can wear a conventional necktie with a tux.  Ascots are becoming more popular these days, especially since the stickpin or tietack that is needed can be chosen creatively and express your individuality.

Tuxedos never go out of style so you can feel safe buying one instead of renting.  If you find yourself in need of a tux more than once a year it’s probably a good idea to purchase your own; you can have it tailored to your specific measurements and look even better in it!
